How did you end up working at Denholm?
I was looking for my next move and Denholm was recommended, as the best in the market. Initially, the meeting was about potential clients they could point me in the direction of, but they also needed someone internally for a short-term contract. I took it and 8 years later, I'm still here!
What do you enjoy most about Denholm?
Collaboration and the autonomy the business gives each individual. Very much a team environment where we are genuinely delighted to see others succeed.
What are your career highlights?
That's a tough one but successfully starting a business was a good one. Now I would say, stepping up to join the board as a Director here at Denholm.
Away from work, what do you like to do in your spare time?
Spend time with the family and when I'm not doing that, watch as much rugby as they will allow me to! Since I stopped playing rugby, I try to keep fit through cycling, the gym and the very odd game of golf (not that golf keeps me fit).
Tell us something not many people know about you.
Qualified to a gold standard in Ballroom dancing from my school days!

First Dates Hotel – on after Graham Norton and seems like the right thing to watch on a Friday night?
Who is your ‘must follow’ on social?
Seth Myers and Jon Stewart for all things US (intrigued by how America is where they are currently). Outwith that JK Rowling, is good value in a social media world dominated by trolls.
What was the last book you read and last film/boxset watched?
Just re-read Trainspotting and before that, Girl on a Train. Just finished watching Narcos and currently catching up on Stranger Things.
What would be your advice to someone entering recruitment?
Be prepared to work hard and in a role that's full of ups and downs. You need to be resilient and always work with integrity which sounds obvious but may set you ahead of your competition.
If there was one thing you want people to know about your job, what would it be?
The ultimate juggling act! Dealing with people who are making decisions concerning their career need very considered and careful management. People do not make major career decisions very often in their life and we must support them through that while managing clients expectations at the same time to get a positive outcome as often as we can.
