How did you end up working at Denholm?
I was looking for a new role at the end of 2016 and Denholm had placed my wife, Roslyn in a couple of roles. She was very impressed with the service she received and I thought I would see where things could go.
What do you enjoy most about Denholm?
The company culture is a strong aspect. Everyone understands when they need to get their heads down and really get stuck in, but at the same time the atmosphere makes it enjoyable.
Away from work, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I am very sporty and love to be active. I go to the gym 3/4 times per week, play a lot of football and golf. Sport is a real passion of mine.
Tell us something not many people know about you.
I played golf for England when I was younger.
Latest guilty pleasure?
A fish supper
Who is your ‘must follow’ on social?
Bex Burn-Callander (sparky000)
What was the last book you read and last film/boxset watched?
The last book I read was ‘The Daily Telegraph Guide to Investing’. Great read. I am currently watching Peaky Blinders and it’s brilliant! Would highly recommend.
What would be your advice to someone entering recruitment?
It is fast paced and can be great fun when things are going well. The opportunity to meet new people and build relationships with candidates and clients alike is really enjoyable. However, be prepared for a lot of bumps along the way! It can be really tough.
If there was one thing you want people to know about your job, what would it be?
It’s difficult. Recruitment isn’t about punting CV’s into a hiring managers inbox. You need to take the time to get to know the candidates you’re representing and the clients you are going to put them in front of, to absolutely find the right fit. The skill is being able to do that because you don’t want to waste people’s time sending any Tom, Dick or Harry.
