Edrington is the home of exceptional spirits

Our portfolio includes some of the world’s best-loved Scotch whiskies and other spirits. Founded in Scotland in 1861, today our business and our brands reach people around the world.

160 years of exceptional spirits

Edrington is headquartered in Scotland with global presence in its wholly owned and joint venture companies. We own our route to market in 15 countries and distribute our brands to more than 100 countries around the world through joint ventures and third-party agreements.

OUR HISTORY

A unique ownership model

Edrington’s ownership model is unique in its industry. The origins of our company stretch back more than 160 years to 1861, when William Robertson founded the Robertson & Baxter company in Glasgow.

One hundred years later, his granddaughters formed a charitable trust to own the business. Elspeth, Agnes and Ethel Robertson wished to use the future success of the family business to extend the support they had given to charities in their lifetimes.

Today, Edrington’s principal shareholder continues to be The Robertson Trust, and the Trust has now given £322 million to charities in Scotland.

SUSTAINABILITY & RESPONSIBILITY

Edrington is working with the world's first science-based corporate standard to reach Net Zero by 2045

Edrington was created to be a company that makes a positive contribution to the communities where we live and work. We have worked for more than 160 years to build a responsible and sustainable business that respects the environment around us.

We are working hard to embed sustainability across our entire business. We depend on our people, our suppliers and partners as the climate crisis demands action from us all.

Innovation

“It’s innovation that will drive and inform the way our packaging looks, engages with consumers and performs throughout the supply chain. We have 3 areas of focus – materials, structure and technology. Packaging is a key touchpoint for our consumers and allows our brands to tell stories that strengthens the emotional bond between them. Sustainability of course is key to all of this as we look for new materials that have less impact on our planet.”

OPPORTUNITY

Packaging Innovation Manager

“The Packaging Innovation Manager is key element to helping us deliver innovative products that minimise impact on the planet. Most of our team is focussed on project delivery and this role will sit outside of that so that they can focus on building a network of external partners that will allow us to access the latest materials and technology. They will act as an internal consultant to the wider Brands Packaging and Marketing teams enabling us to apply new materials and technologies to real word projects.”

This is a unique new role within the Edrington business and given the skillset and ground-breaking approach required from the successful individual, it can be based globally to ensure we secure that right mix of skills, knowledge and experience. You will need to travel to the head office in Glasgow to meet with the team when required, so most likely you will be based within easy reach of a major travel hub.

Reporting to the Head of Brands Packaging, you will focus across three key areas:

  • Materials: Discovery of new materials with a sustainability and premiumisation focus that will enhance the Edrington portfolio of brands
  • Structure: Innovative structural packaging solutions that supports the Direct to consumer (DTC) channel objectives and improves consumer experience
  • Technology: New ways to leverage technology to improve the consumer experience and provide more visibility and traceability of products throughout the supply chain

It will be essential that you have the ability to own, create, develop and monitor a pipeline of new materials, structures and technology that support the delivery of the corporate vision.

You will need to build relationships and liaise and manage external stakeholders to create an innovation network that the business and its brands can access.

You will act as the conduit to this network for brand teams to support the delivery of their strategies.

Furthermore, you will be expected to act as an advisor to the brand teams, the wider brands packaging team and other internal NPD stakeholders on what the future could look like for our packaging. As a subject matter expert, you will be expected to collaborate with other internal NPD stakeholders to drive the implementation of innovative materials, structures and technology across all projects and brands.

You must have a fundamental understanding of the luxury brands market and how packaging drives consumer experience. Your background in luxury brands will be diverse, ensuring you can bring new ideas and thinking that has been gained outside of the drinks sector. You will have a knowledge and interest in new materials and sustainability which transfers into the passion and drive to innovate and execute with excellence as well as the curiosity to continuously learn and discover.

You will bring the agility to be able to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment and engage a wide range of stakeholders in cross-functional meetings and when presenting information to all levels in the business, from shop floor to director-level. Due to the focus on innovation and driving new initiatives, you will be able to deal with ambiguity and provide clarity and guidance over complex and technical areas who can win trust and forms strong working relationships across the business.

Working independently and remotely, you will be comfortable using your own initiative with a proactive, ‘can-do’ attitude with excellent communication, facilitation and presentation skills. With experience in the luxury brands market, you will have a passion for innovation that enhances the consumer’s experience of the company brands and be ready to make your mark with a global luxury brand that is leading in their category.

DATA ENGINEER

Our Purpose

Our aim is to combat illicit online trade by identifying and removing counterfeits for sale. Counterfeits not only damage brands, their reputations, and revenues, but can cause significant harm to the end customer – whether as a fake toy or a fake medicine – and the consequences can be life threatening.

Counterfeiting is a significant economic and social issue.

The OECD reports that counterfeit and fake goods make up more than 3.3% of the world’s global trade. Those involved in the trade of counterfeits have been linked to people trafficking, prostitution, and drug dealing.

As such, reducing illicit trade is about much more than brand protection but also about human rights, safety, and social equity.

And this is what we do, every day.

Our Environment

We deliver purpose-driven work from an extremely welcoming environment near the City Centre. We actively encourage the responsible use of resources, from using public transport to reuse, recycling, and, of course, a minimal impact office environment. We have benefited from the advice of the Energy Saving Trust and Resource Efficient Scotland. Our waste contractor also provides us with a monthly report on volumes and types of material and the carbon emissions avoided through recycling.

Over 80% of our employees can walk or cycle to The Lair and, pre-pandemic, 10% were using public transport as their normal daily commuting mode. Without doubt, online meetings will replace considerable miles, going forward, saving resources, time and energy. Where possible, when possible, the train remains our preferred option.

Members of our senior management sit on the boards of ACID (Anti-Copying in Design), the Scottish Ministerial Trade Board, and the European Union Intellectual Property Office’s Observatory Panel for SMEs, amongst others.
