Why did you join Denholm?
I discovered Denholm after hitting it off with Jackie in talks over a completely different role (it’s strange how things work out!). I’m a firm believer in everything happens for a reason and making the decision to respond to a simple LinkedIn message really did change everything for me.
Before joining Denholm, I was stuck in a role that allowed for little sleep at night, and that was the norm. What attracted me most to Denholm was that it already felt like home, with people who genuinely care about you and want to work together to succeed. I’m excited to make my mark on Denholm. Working my own way, while bringing all the creative vibes and more to the table.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever heard?
“Better three hours too soon than a minute too late.” I remember my Grandad saying this when I was a child, and at the time I never realised what he meant by it. Today I completely live by this – I’d rather be patient and have the chance to change something or make it right for example, rather than make an impulsive decision that can’t be taken back. Life is a funny one, and our decisions really are everything. Deep for a Friday afternoon!
What’s something that recently made you smile?
My auntie recently got engaged!!! Plus, my friend is getting married in Marbella this year and we’re spending a week out there to celebrate… so plenty of good news to make me smile! Who doesn’t love a good old knees-up at a wedding?
Tell us something that we wouldn’t see on your CV.
My dog, Winston is practically Instagram famous and I am indeed the dog mum behind the account (no, I never thought this would be my life!).
I absolutely love it. But I now appreciate how time-consuming a job it is, and how much effort you really need to put in to grow an “influencer” account. You need to be creative with new ideas for posts/reels that stand out and essentially go viral.
It’s always rewarding watching the follower count go up and having a business account allows access to different insights you wouldn’t usually see.
Winston’s following is primarily from people in the US and his reels usually hit the Australian and New Zealand population more than the UK! It’s interesting that way, and I always think to myself, 20 odd years ago none of this was even possible… to have my dog reach a worldwide audience through images and videos. Mad.
Some perks of this new hobby are that Winston is a brand ambassador for five different companies, and they send freebies all the time in exchange for photos of him wearing harnesses, collars, the lot – and he has a discount code for anyone to use (typing this out sounds ridiculous – haha!).
Another perk is that Winston and I have been asked to go to London in June to model for a dog company. They’re launching matching human and dog apparel and we will be two of the faces on the campaign! Dog mum life can be glam… sometimes!!!
