Denholm are delighted to be working with a well recognised financial governing body in Scotland who are looking to expand their digital services team and bring in a Data Application Developer due to a growth in demand. This role will involve maintaining, building and improving the growing suite of in-house data-driven web applications in the organisation.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering new data-driven applications, dashboards, and scripts, keeping future roll-out and maintainability in mind
- Maintaining and improving existing data-driven applications with new features, automated unit and end-to-end testing, and appropriate data interfaces
- Be involved in all stages of the SDLC including requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, training, and documentation.
- Assisting colleagues by delivering solutions that are easy to use, understandable, reproducible, and explainable.
Essential experience:
- You will be educated to degree level in the Computer Science field or similar and/or have other relevant professional qualifications and experience.
- Demonstrable knowledge & experience in the areas of software development, software engineering, or software testing
- Experience dealing with a variety of financial, economic, demographic and performance data.
- Strong knowledge of relevant data analysis or software development languages and application frameworks (R / R Shiny, Python or similar)
Nice to haves:
- Experience working on Agile/Lean methodologies
- Experience of designing, building, and testing complex or large-scale applications and data products.
- Experience of data modelling, including interacting with relational and other databases.
The ideal candidate will come from a data science/software development background but they are also open to candidates coming from a data analyst background who has a good understanding of the SDLC.
The role can be based in Glasgow with a rotating hybrid working model of 2 days in the office every 2 weeks. They are also open to remote candidates who are able to travel into the office on an adhoc basis. For this, they can offer a competitive salary package (£42,000 – £48,900), 19.5% pension contribution and 38 days holiday + 4 bank holidays.
