Role:
Reporting to the Commercial Director, this position has responsibility for leading and motivating the Business Development team to create a best-in-class customer service delivery model. This includes responsibility for the development, delivery and ongoing management of their customer excellence charter, and responsibility for team coaching, development, and training; ensuring their People have the relevant skills to effectively deliver our approved processes. Hybrid working is available.
Main responsibilities:
- Sales Funnel:
- Responsible for the business’s sales funnel to ensure maximum conversion rates
- Working closely with the Commercial Director, identify and prioritise developer, transfer of business and acquisition targets, maintaining a commercial and pro-active approach to customer acquisition
- Team leadership and management:
- Successful functional team leadership
- Recruitment support for functional team members
- Responsible for role profile development for each functional team member
- Responsible for the setting of six-monthly and annual team and individual performance objectives
- Ensure six-monthly and annual performance reviews are effectively completed with direct reports
- Working closely with the Commercial Director and People team, ensure team training and development plans are strong and effective
- Working closely with the Marketing team, ensure regular cross-departmental internal communications
- Coaching & Development:
- Working closely with the Commercial Director and People team, responsible for the development, delivery and ongoing management of the business development elements of their learning and development programme
- Responsible for establishing a coaching and development culture, promoting and investing in learning and development across the business development team
- Responsible for talent development across the business development team
- Customer Experience/Engagement:
- Working closely with the Head of Property Management, input into the development, ongoing management and delivery of their customer excellence charter
- Working closely with the Technical Services team to ensure technical accuracy and governance across all business development procedures

- Working closely with the Marketing team to ensure all customer communications and touchpoints are clear, transparent and considered
- Routinely assessing and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement initiatives, which deliver improved customer satisfaction and referral rates
- KPI’s:
- Acquisition opportunities (monthly target)
- Sales conversion rate (monthly target)
- Fee income generated (% delivery vs targets)
- Customer acquisition (annual target)
- Direct report delivery of annual performance objectives (% delivery vs targets)
- Team retention (% delivery vs targets)
Specific skills, capabilities & requirements:

- Minimum 5 years’ business development experience, ideally at a promoted level
- Proven track record in effective team leadership and management
- Ability to set and manage targets – both personally and for direct reports
- Strong communicator
- Excellent presentation skills
- Ability to demonstrate an analytical and solution-focused approach to business challenges
- A basic understanding of property management industry, with the desire to learn more
- A sound commercial outlook, with the ability to interpret data and make fact-based decisions/recommendations
- Full, clean UK driving license
