Workplace Manager

Job Ref: 11134

Workplace Manager
Edinburgh City Centre | Full-Time | Office-Based
Are you the kind of person who makes things happen, keeps everything running smoothly and genuinely enjoys creating a great place for people to work?
We're working with Flexitricity, an innovative Edinburgh-based energy business, to find a brilliant Workplace Manager who will play a central role in the day-to-day running of its offices, supporting its people and helping create an exceptional workplace experience.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves variety, thrives on responsibility and enjoys being at the heart of a busy, friendly and ambitious organisation.
A little about Flexitricity
Flexitricity operates at the forefront of the UK's evolving energy landscape, using smart technology to help balance electricity supply and demand, support renewable energy integration and create a more flexible, sustainable energy system.
Part of the wider Drax Group, Flexitricity combines the backing of a major energy organisation with the innovation, agility and entrepreneurial spirit of a specialist business.
With impressive offices in central Edinburgh, a collaborative culture and exciting opportunities for growth, it's a great time to join.
The opportunity
As Workplace Manager, you'll be the person who helps everything come together.
From ensuring the office runs like clockwork to organising company events, managing suppliers, supporting senior leaders and helping new colleagues settle in, you'll have a wonderfully varied role with plenty of scope to make a real difference.
You'll work closely with teams across HR, IT, Finance and the wider business, becoming a trusted and approachable point of contact for colleagues and visitors alike.
Importantly, this isn't just about managing an office. It's about creating an environment where people feel welcome, supported and able to do their best work.
What you'll be doing
  • Making the workplace brilliant: Taking ownership of the day-to-day office environment, ensuring everything is organised, welcoming, safe and running smoothly.
  • Keeping things moving: Coordinating facilities, maintenance, security, meeting rooms, equipment and the many moving parts of a busy workplace.
  • Building great relationships: Managing suppliers, contracts, purchasing and office budgets, ensuring services are delivered efficiently and effectively.
  • Bringing people together: Organising company socials, employee engagement activities and internal communications that help build a positive workplace culture.
  • Supporting colleagues: Working with HR and IT to coordinate onboarding and offboarding, making sure employees have everything they need.
  • Working across the business: Providing administrative and project support, coordinating meetings and reporting, and working closely with senior stakeholders.
  • Making things better: Spotting opportunities to improve processes, solve problems and enhance the overall workplace experience.
  • Maintaining high standards: Supporting workplace health and safety, compliance and wider operational requirements, including occasional support for other Drax business locations.
What we're looking for
You'll ideally have experience in office management, workplace management, facilities management or a similar operational role.
More importantly, we're looking for someone with the right attitude, personality and drive to make this role their own.
You'll bring:
  • Experience managing a busy office or workplace environment, with the confidence to take ownership of day-to-day operations.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to juggle competing priorities without losing sight of the detail.
  • Experience working with suppliers, contracts, budgets and facilities services.
  • A warm, approachable personality and the confidence to build relationships with people at every level.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset. You're someone who spots what needs doing and gets on with it.
  • Strong communication and Microsoft Office 365 skills.
  • A professional, discreet approach, particularly when supporting senior colleagues.
  • An understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
You'll be someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, can remain calm when plans change and takes real pride in making things work.
You don't need experience in the energy sector. We're much more interested in finding someone with the right experience, transferable skills and enthusiasm to contribute to the business.
Why join Flexitricity?
There are lots of reasons to be excited about this opportunity.
You'll be joining a respected, forward-thinking business operating in one of the UK's most important and fast-evolving industries.
You'll enjoy:
  • Real ownership and autonomy to shape the workplace experience.
  • Variety every day, with exposure to different teams, projects and people.
  • A fantastic working environment in modern, central Edinburgh offices.
  • A friendly, collaborative culture that combines professionalism with an informal, down-to-earth approach.
  • The stability of a larger group alongside the energy and ambition of a growing business.
  • A competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
  • The satisfaction of making a visible difference to colleagues and the wider organisation.
A few practical details
This is a full-time position based in Flexitricity's Edinburgh city centre office, five days per week. As the role is all about being present, supporting colleagues and creating a fantastic workplace environment, it's ideally suited to someone who enjoys the buzz of office life.
