Denholm Associates

Head of Marketing & Comms

Job Ref: 11017

The opportunity you've been waiting for

OneRen has the venues, the programmes, and the ambition. Paisley Town Hall, Paisley Arts Centre, and the forthcoming Paisley Museum Reimagined represent a significant portfolio of cultural assets with real public profile. The question now is how they are positioned, promoted, and perceived. That is where you come in.

This is a permanent senior leadership role with full strategic ownership of OneRen's marketing and communications function. You will be accountable for income generation through marketing, responsible for the OneRen brand, and the primary voice of the organisation to the media and wider public.

The brief is clear: build a data-led, commercially focused marketing operation that drives revenue, diversifies audiences, and raises OneRen's profile locally, nationally, and internationally.

How you'll make your mark

You will lead a multi-disciplinary team including a Brand and Communications Manager, Marketing and Campaigns Manager, and Graphic Designer, and take full strategic ownership of what they deliver.

Key deliverables

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive, data-driven marketing and communications strategy with a clear focus on maximising income
  • Manage a significant marketing budget, allocating resource across in-house and outsourced activity to deliver measurable ROI
  • Serve as guardian of the OneRen brand, ensuring consistency of identity, tone, and visual standards across all channels and venues.
  • Act as chief media liaison and spokesperson, managing relationships with journalists and securing positive coverage for exhibitions, events, and organisational milestones.
  • Build and manage key agency relationships, particularly in digital performance and web development, ensuring their work connects directly to revenue goals.
  • Drive the adoption of marketing technology, from audience segmentation to campaign tracking, fostering a performance culture within the team.

What you bring

  • Senior-level experience in a marketing and communications leadership role, with direct accountability for income generation and demonstrable ROI.
  • Expertise in developing and executing commercially focused marketing strategies across multiple income streams.
  • Strong working knowledge of digital marketing channels including PPC, SEO, and social media, alongside experience managing external agency partners.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, audience segmentation, and CRM management, with the ability to connect insight to commercial decisions.
  • Experience leading and developing a multi-functional marketing team, setting clear goals and holding people accountable for delivery.

What's in it for you

  • Salary: £59,711 to £63,338 (Grade 11)
  • Contract: Permanent, 37 hours per week
  • Location: Hybrid, based at OneRen Central Office, Paisley
  • 21 days annual leave plus 12 public holidays, with service-linked increases
  • Option to purchase up to 5 additional days' leave
  • Access to Strathclyde Pension Fund (employee contribution 7.2%, employer 17.5%)
  • Free or discounted access to OneRen leisure facilities for you and up to two nominated friends or family members
  • Access to occupational health, physiotherapy, CBT, and mental health support via Time for Thriving
  • Discounts with local and national retailers via Vivup, the employee benefits platform
  • Discount on food and beverages at OneRen venue cafes

A bit more about OneRen

OneRen is a charitable trust with a broad portfolio spanning theatres, museums, arts centres, leisure centres, and a growing events programme across Renfrewshire. Its mission is to improve the physical and mental health of communities through accessible cultural, leisure, and sporting opportunities.

With significant capital investment complete and flagship venues now operational, OneRen is entering a period of growth. The marketing and communications function plays a central role in translating that ambition into audience engagement, income, and reputation.

Denholm's take

This is the kind of senior marketing role that does not come along often in the third sector. Full strategic ownership, a clear commercial mandate, and the backing of an organisation with strong assets and real public presence. It suits someone who wants both creative scope and accountability for results.

If you have experience leading marketing functions where commercial performance was taken seriously and you are drawn to the cultural and community context OneRen operates in, we would welcome a conversation.
