Denholm Associates

Corporate Tax Associate Director

Job Ref: 11033

The opportunity you've been waiting for

A well-established Tax team is hiring due to considerable growth, and it needs someone who can support the partner by managing and overseeing complex tax advisory work whilst supporting the development of the wider team. This is an Associate Director role with real scope: the technical judgement calls, the client relationships, the people decisions.

You will report into senior leadership and work alongside a team that expects you to lead, not just execute. This opportunity would suit an experienced Senior Manager ready for the next step in their career.

How you'll make your mark

You will take the lead on complex tax engagements, reviewing compliance and advisory work to a standard that needs minimal partner input. When you do bring something to a director or partner, it will be the genuinely difficult call, not a routine check.

Key deliverables

  • Own delivery on complex engagements end to end, coordinating directly with other service lines where needed.
  • Build and hold client relationships as a primary point of contact, spotting opportunities as they arise.
  • Coach and develop the team, closing skills gaps before they become delivery problems.
  • Track legislative change in your specialism and translate it into practical guidance for clients and colleagues.
  • Manage resourcing across dynamic statutory deadlines, keeping senior management informed of pressure points.

What you bring

  • A tax or accountancy qualification (ATT, CTA, ACA, ACCA or CA), or equivalent experience.
  • Strong corporate tax knowledge with experience of managing tax advisory engagements.
  • A track record of managing client relationships with genuine ownership, not just attendance at meetings.
  • Experience mentoring or managing a team, including the harder conversations about performance.

What's in it for you

Working is flexible and remote-friendly, built around trust rather than clock-watching.

  • A clear line of sight to director level, with genuine investment in your development.
  • Direct access to senior leadership and the wider senior team, without layers of hierarchy in between.
  • The autonomy to run engagements your way, backed by a firm with the scale to support you.

Denholm's take

What stands out here is the level of trust on offer. The leadership team wants a person who can take genuine ownership of complex work and take advantage of career development opportunities within the firm.

If that sounds like the kind of role you have been quietly hoping would come up, we would welcome a confidential conversation.
