Senior Marketing Capability Manager

Job Ref: 11057

The opportunity you've been waiting for

Edrington builds brands that don't chase the market. The Macallan, Highland Park, The Glenrothes, Brugal, Wyoming Whiskey: each one exists in the ultra-premium space because someone, somewhere, keeps the thinking behind them sharp. That's this role.

This is a Senior Marketing Capability Manager position, built for someone who wants to shape how an entire marketing organisation thinks about brand building, not just how one brand performs. You'll own the frameworks, the training and the annual planning process that Edrington's marketers use to build brands that last decades, not quarters.

The role sits close to senior leadership and touches every market Edrington operates in. It's a platform for real influence, and a strong step for anyone with ambitions toward a global capability or brand leadership role.

How you'll make your mark

You'll lead the evolution of Edrington's Brand Building Fundamentals Programme, the training that equips marketers across the business with the skills to build ultra-premium brands well. That means designing and facilitating workshops globally, refreshing content with real case studies, and building in new territory like what AI means for marketers today.

You'll also own Growth Planning, Edrington's annual brand planning process. The timings, the templates, the tools: all yours to run and improve. You'll partner with global and market teams to get plans delivered to a high standard and on time, then run the Quarterly Review Scorecard to prove they worked.

Key deliverables

  • Redesign and deliver global training that measurably improves how marketers apply brand building principles.
  • Run the Growth Planning process end-to-end, from templates through to Quarterly Review Scorecards.
  • Build tools and frameworks that marketers actually reach for in day-to-day decisions.
  • Manage external partners and agencies to co-create capability content that holds up against premium and luxury best practice.
  • Influence senior stakeholders across brand, insight, media, commercial and HR to secure investment and adoption.

What you bring

  • Seven or more years in a broad marketing role, client or agency side as a Planner or Strategy Director.
  • A genuine grounding in brand building theory, marketing strategy and integrated communications.
  • Confidence with marketing effectiveness and measurement frameworks, and how media and channel performance connects to them.
  • Experience designing and delivering training or workshops that change how people work, not just what they know.
  • A track record of influencing senior stakeholders and leading multi-market initiatives to completion.

What's in it for you

Competitive salary plus bonus, Share Reward Scheme and other benefits. Based at 100 Queen Street, hybrid-working, with 2 days in office and occasional international travel built into the role.

You'll get genuine reach across a global portfolio of ultra-premium brands, direct exposure to senior leadership, and a role that sits at the centre of how Edrington's marketing community thinks and works. For someone building toward global capability or brand leadership, this is real runway.

A bit more about Edrington

Edrington owns and builds some of the most respected names in single malt, rum and American whiskey: The Macallan, Highland Park, The Glenrothes, Brugal and Wyoming Whiskey, alongside a strategic partnership with No.3 London Dry Gin. Headquartered in Scotland, the business employs over 3,000 people worldwide and routes its own brands to market in 16 countries.

Edrington's principal shareholder is The Robertson Trust, which has given £322 million to Scottish charitable causes since 1961. Giving, respect, integrity and excellence sit underneath everything the business does. This role exists to make sure Edrington's marketers have the capability to match that ambition.

Denholm's take

Capability roles can end up as admin dressed up as strategy. This one isn't that. Edrington has given this role real ownership of two things that actually move the needle: how its marketers are trained, and how its brands plan for growth. Get either of those right at this scale and the impact is felt across every market the business touches.

If you've got the credibility to stand in front of senior marketers and change how they think, and the discipline to make a global planning process actually work, we'd like to talk. In confidence, whenever suits.
