Sales Account Executive

Job Ref: 11012

The opportunity you've been waiting for

Sustainability has moved from the margins to the boardroom. Organisations across the UK are under real pressure to reduce resource consumption, cut waste and report meaningfully on environmental impact. This role puts you at the centre of that shift.

As a Sales Account Executive with a leading UK utilities and environmental services business, you'll manage a portfolio of business customers, helping them get more value from the services they already have while identifying where more is possible. It's account management with genuine purpose behind it.

Based in Edinburgh, Monday to Friday, desk-based with some customer-facing activity. The team around you is high-performing. The customers you'll work with are varied and engaged. The pipeline for growth is real.

How you'll make your mark

You'll own a portfolio of business accounts end-to-end. That means building relationships with decision-makers, developing account plans that drive retention and growth, and acting as the trusted commercial contact your customers actually want to hear from.

Key deliverables

  • Manage a portfolio of business customers and prospects, building relationships that last beyond the contract renewal.
  • Develop account plans and contact strategies to maximise retention, engagement and commercial value.
  • Identify and convert opportunities to grow existing accounts through additional products and services.
  • Lead retention, renewal, save and win-back activity with a structured and proactive approach.
  • Deliver insight on customer needs and market trends that helps the wider team stay ahead.
  • Support customers in reducing consumption and advancing their sustainability objectives.

What you bring

  • Demonstrable experience building and managing successful B2B relationships.
  • A commercial instinct for spotting opportunity and seeing it through to a result.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple accounts without dropping threads.
  • Confidence on the phone, in writing and in front of customers.
  • Comfort with CRM systems and business software; Salesforce experience is a plus.

What's in it for you

The salary for this role is competitive and supported by an attractive bonus scheme tied to both individual and company performance. You'll also benefit from an employer pension contribution of up to 10%.

Beyond the basics, the package includes:

  • 31 days annual leave plus six bank holidays.
  • Monday to Friday hours with no shift or weekend work.
  • Enhanced maternity and adoption leave.
  • 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme and access to Mental Health First Aiders.
  • Retail discounts and cashback through a colleague benefits platform.
  • Cycle to Work scheme, free onsite gym facilities and subsidised food and drink.
  • Volunteering opportunities to support local communities.
  • Ongoing learning and development with genuine scope to progress.

A bit more about the organisation

This is a well-established UK business operating in the utilities and environmental services sector, supporting thousands of organisations to manage resources more efficiently and reduce their environmental footprint. Sustainability is woven into the strategy, the product and the culture.

It's a business that invests in its people, takes its purpose seriously and has built a collaborative culture where contribution is recognised and development is encouraged. The work matters. So does the environment in which it gets done.

Denholm's take

What stands out here is the combination: a role with real commercial substance sitting inside a business where the purpose is genuine. You're managing accounts that matter to customers who are trying to do something meaningful. That's a different kind of motivation to bring to work.
