Personal Tax Senior

Job Ref: 11049

The opportunity you've been waiting for

Looking for your next move in personal tax?

We've partnered with an independent, well-regarded Glasgow accountancy firm that is growing their tax team and looking for a Personal Tax Senior to take real ownership of a client portfolio. You'll work across a genuine spread of tax work, with the client contact and variety that a bigger firm structure tends to squeeze out.

Whether you're an established Personal Tax Senior or ready to step up into the role, this is a chance to build a broader, more rounded career in tax.

How you'll make your mark

You'll join a tax team of six to seven people and become a trusted point of contact for your own portfolio of personal tax clients.

Key deliverables

  • Prepare and review personal tax returns for a portfolio of clients.
  • Manage the full range of Self-Assessment requirements from start to finish.
  • Build direct client relationships that go beyond compliance ticks.
  • Liaise with HMRC on your clients' behalf.
  • Work alongside senior tax colleagues and contribute to wider tax projects, including corporation tax and P11D work as your experience allows.

What you bring

  • Experience in a personal tax role within an accountancy practice.
  • A track record of preparing personal tax returns accurately and independently.
  • Confidence managing your own workload and deadlines.
  • A genuine appetite to build a long-term career in tax.
  • Exposure to corporation tax or P11Ds, and progress towards ATT, are welcome bonuses rather than requirements.

What's in it for you

  • [Insert salary range, e.g. £28,000–£34,000]
  • Hybrid working.
  • A genuinely broad tax remit, not a narrow lane within a large structured team.
  • A close-knit team where your contribution is visible and valued.

A bit more about the firm

This is an independent accountancy firm with a strong reputation in the Glasgow market, built with clients and candidates alike. The tax team is growing, and this role exists because the firm wants to keep giving clients the personal, well-rounded service it's known for as that team scales.

Denholm's take

We like this one because the firm means it when it says variety. Six or seven people means you're not a cog, you're a name. If you've outgrown the narrow lane of a bigger firm and want tax work with your fingerprints on it, get in touch for a confidential conversation.
