HR Advisor – Port of Tilbury
Permanent | Full-time | On-site (Tilbury)
Denholm Associates are delighted to be retained by Forth Ports to appoint an experienced and driven HR Advisor to join their expanding team at the Port of Tilbury.
Tilbury isn’t just one of the UK’s busiest ports; it’s a vital hub for trade, logistics, and innovation. As part of Forth Ports Group, Tilbury is continuing to grow and evolve, driven by ambitious investment, digital transformation, and a clear commitment to sustainability, including a path towards net zero by 2042.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a confident HR professional who enjoys variety and thrives in a fast-paced, operational environment. You’ll be joining a collaborative and well-regarded HR team, supporting around 700 employees across multiple business units.
As HR Advisor, you’ll play a key role in delivering a professional, solutions-focused HR service, building strong partnerships with managers and employees and contributing to ongoing organisational growth and improvement. You’ll be involved in a broad mix of work, including:
-
Employee relations and case management across a diverse workforce.
-
Active engagement with trade unions – including collective bargaining with six recognised unions and annual pay negotiations.
-
Consultation, redundancy, and change management activity.
-
Supporting the review and development of HR policies, processes, and procedures.
-
Using HR systems and data to inform decisions and improve efficiency.
We’re looking for someone who brings:
-
Solid experience in an HR Advisory or Generalist role within a complex, operational setting.
-
Strong ER/IR experience and confidence in working with trade unions.
-
A proactive, pragmatic approach and the ability to influence and build trust.
-
CIPD Level 5 (or equivalent experience).
-
A willingness to work on-site full-time in Tilbury, building close relationships with the business.
In return, you’ll be joining a forward-thinking organisation at an exciting stage in its growth journey – one that values collaboration, professional development, and genuine partnership between HR and the business.
This role offers the chance to make a visible impact while developing your career within a respected, values-driven company that’s shaping the future of UK trade and logistics.
