Denholm Associates, specialist marketing recruitment agency, has posted a record increase in fee income during the first quarter of 2017 with increased activity across the financial services, food and drink, digital marketing and tech sectors in Scotland and across the UK.
With a market-leading position in Executive Search for marketing posts, Denholm is extending its reach to C-suite assignments – executives at the CEO, COO, CFO and CIO/CDO level – in addition to its traditional activity around CMOs and has also seen an upswing in non-executive director posts, senior advisory and interim roles.
With employer branding being a main theme of 2016 across Scotland’s corporate scene, Denholm is seeing signs that diversity in the workplace and the boardroom could be the primary recruitment theme if 2017. Founder and Chief Executive Nicki Denholm said, “While we will continue to focus on being the go-to agency when it comes to an organisation’s marketing function, we’re excited to be increasingly brought into the process of sourcing senior executives across other functions. In common with global trends, we’re also starting to see diversity moving up near the top of the corporate agenda.”
“We are bringing a fresh, new approach to executive search, drawing on our knowledge of marketing to help us bring the latest digital comms techniques to an old-fashioned industry often characterised by the old boy network, searching among a predictable and narrow range of candidates and lacking in diversity.”
Denholm plans to continue the roll-out of BrandBox following the success of the online tool which allows companies to build their own employer brand sites on the Denholm website. Clients that have used BrandBox include VisitScotland, Edrington, Velux and Maxxium and the Denholm team have been working with Liz Engelsen, former Head of Consulting & Strategy global branding powerhouse Interbrand in New York and London, to further expand and develop the product and service.
Meanwhile, long-standing employee Marisa Carroll has been appointed as COO and will work closely with Nicki Denholm as the agency moves into its next phase of growth.
Denholm Executive Chairman, John Denholm, said: “By combining ever closer client working relationships with continued investment in our people and technology, we believe we’ve got the right type of model for the market and our own growth ambitions going forward.”
Denholm was founded by Chief Executive, Nicki Denholm, in 2002 quickly becoming one of Scotland and the UK’s fastest growing specialist sales and marketing recruitment players. Clients include Standard Life, Tesco Bank, VisitScotland, The R&A, Beam Suntory and Skyscanner. The team currently totals 25 people in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
